Open Garden; Domineys Garden, Buckland Newton

August 16, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

£4.00

Domineys Garden and small Arboretum, a garden to explore, will be open for the NGS Charities on Sunday afternoon 16 August from 2 pm to 6 pm. The plants are performing well, with some unusual ones from hotter climates. You can see late flowering clematis, hydrangeas, other shrubs with a variety of herbaceous plants and annuals, as well as fruit and vegetables.  The arboretum, started 20 years ago, contains many flourishing trees 10 metres or more high, including examples of survivors from prehistoric times. These include 3 different Liriodendron, or Tulip trees, a Wollemi pine and 10 seed grown Dawn Redwoods, Metasequoia Glyptostroboides, as well as two descendants of the 350 million years old species Maidenhair, Ginkgo Biloba,  which predates the dinosaurs. You can sit in the garden and enjoy a home made tea. Plants will be on sale from Picket Lane Nursery. Entry £4, children come in free. Visitors by appointment are also welcome later in the year.
