DOMINEYS GARDENS AND ARBORETUM

April 10, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm

£4.50

The first 2016 opening of the Garden and small Arboretum at Domineys for the National Gardens Scheme is on Sunday 10th April from 2 pm to 5.30 pm.  2016 is our 30th year of opening for NGS. Past photos show how much change there has been since then, not least because of the climate. At our first opening, in late March 30 years ago after a hard winter, the snowdrops were only just out. At least we could offer plenty of tea and cake, when a full coachload arrived from Devon to see the garden open for the first time. This year the colder weather from February on has slowed things down. There will be plenty to see as well as the Camellias;  although we have more than 130, they in no way dominate the garden and arboretum, but fit in to the mixture of other trees, shrubs and herbaceous, bulbs, annuals, fruit and vegetables. Springtime will be underway for both plants and wildlife. Home made teas and excellent plants from Pickett Lane Nursery. The NGS is one of the most significant charitable funders of nursing and caring in the UK. Entry £4.50, children free.
