First School

The Cerne Abbas First School has served the local community since 1844.  “The Small School with  Big Heart”, Cerne Abbas First School, was awarded an Outstanding assessment from OFSTED in 2012. It presently teaches children aged 4 to 9 years old who then go on to a variety of schools in Dorchester. 


The Little Giants Pre-school resides in the village hall situated in the heart of the Cerne Abbas community at the heart of the beautiful Cerne Valley. The children have access to free-flow play and learning areas both in and outdoors. Children are offered safe, caring and stimulating opportunities to extend their knowledge with the highly qualified Early Years practitioners.

The committee-run pre-school, has close links with the Cerne Abbas Community Primary School, offering children ease of transition from pre-school to school.

Open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday-  Sessional hours of attendance between 9.00  —  3.00 Term time only. Early years funding  for children  3 years of age and   Childcare vouchers for payment
